Emily Haggerty
Emily Haggerty, 88, a lifelong resident of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, October 30, 2021. She was born in Stamford on December 20, 1932 to the late Ernest and Adaline (DiCenzo) Ruggiero.
Emily was married to the love of her life, Dick, for 58 years and they spent many years traveling and enjoying their life together before his passing in 2013. Her greatest love was her family, and nothing brought her more joy than being with them. Emily loved hosting the holidays and celebrating with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends. Another of her greatest joys was going to the casinos. On her way to heaven, we all agree that she stopped one last time to pull the slot machine and hit the LUCKY 7’s.
Emily is survived by her five children, Karen Maki of Stamford, Mickey Haggerty and his wife Susan of Danbury, Bob Haggerty and his wife Barbara of Stamford, Bonnie Leister, and her husband Jeff of Michigan, and Roger and his wife Kathy of Stamford. She is also survived by her loving sister Josephine DeRosa, and her cherished grandchildren, Bob Haggerty (Amanda), Lauren Behm (Brendan), Michael Haggerty, Dave Haggerty, Sean Haggerty (Beth), KC Koshansky (Will), Justin Haggerty (Savannah), Alyssa Maki, Jaclyn Haggerty, Ryan Haggerty, Jake Maki, and Shane Haggerty and her great-grandchildren Riley Haggerty, Keegan Haggerty, Liv Haggerty, and Tripp Koshansky.
Besides her parents, Emily is predeceased by her beloved husband Richard William Haggerty, her brothers Reggie and Pat Ruggiero, and her sister Jean Zelem.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 403 Scofieldtown Road, Stamford, CT. A procession will follow to St. John’s Mausoleum, Darien, a committal service will be held followed by entombment.
