Joseph Cianciola

Joseph Cianciola was born in 1942 in Stamford, CT. to the late James and Angelina Greco Cianciola. His parents emigrated to the United States from Italy. Joseph was one of five children. He is predeceased by Isabelle Pomponi, MaryAnn Cianciola, and James “Jay” Cianciola Jr.
Joe’s Catholic faith and Italian heritage were a great source of pride, and helped shape who he was. He entered into eternal life October 6, 2023.
Joseph graduated J.M. Wright Technical School in Stamford, and became a tool & dye-maker working at Laminated Shim. Some years later, he changed tracks to work as a mechanic. His strong work ethic and honesty helped him to succeed. Eventually Joe became co-owner (with Mike Viscusi) of Herb’s Service Station in Shippan. Joe also owned another small-business, JJC Refuse, with his brother Jay. Even when running his businesses, Joseph was a self-less, honest and caring man – offering repairs on credit, giving his customers the best deals and always tinkering and trying to find solutions to problems.
Joe was the ultimate provider, a hard worker, and a generous and kind soul. He always prioritized caring and providing for his family, often working two jobs throughout much of his life. Even into retirement, Joe worked part-time at Vintage Motorcars LLC in Westbrook, CT where he was an asset to the company with his vast knowledge of cars.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Regina (“Reggie” DeLeo), two daughters, Gina Cianciola, Dana (Cianciola) Novorio, his son-in-law, Marco Novorio, and two grandchildren, Nicholas and Anna, and his remaining sister, Dolores Twardy and brother-in-law, Greg Twardy, in addition to his other loving sister- and brother-in-laws.
The family will have a mass for Joe at Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Followed by the entombment at St. John’s Mausoleum, Darien, CT. There will be no calling hours.
The family requests that donations be made in Joseph’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105
