Mary Malizia

Mary A. Malizia, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and longtime resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 27, 2022 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Stamford on December 10, 1935 and was one of three children born to the late George and Elena (Simochko) Butkovsky. Mary was 86 years old at the time of her passing.
Mary’s love first and foremost, were her grandchildren. She loved to bake, take long walks, and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, bowling, line dancing, and traveling. In addition to being a full-time mother, she spent many years working in the retail field.
Mary is survived by her loving children; Michael Malizia and wife Donna of North Carolina, Lisa Pampena and husband Anthony of Stamford, CT, Brian Malizia and wife Wendy of North Carolina, and Donald Malizia and wife Carolyn of CT; her eight grandchildren, Christopher, Angela, Laura, Anthony, Christian, Vincent, Rebekah and Seth; and her great grandchildren Christopher, DJ and Aubreigh. In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald Malizia, in 2009, and her siblings George Budd and Barbara Caruso.
A mass of Christian burial will be held for Mary at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 5th at St. Mary R.C. Church, 566 Elm Street, in Stamford. Entombment will follow at St. John’s Mausoleum in Darien and will be held privately. There will be no calling hours.
